Degl'Innocenti's child
If you have traveled to Florence you probably passed by Piazza Santissima Annunziata and you admired the huge Della Robbias just like this one on the front wall of the convento. That building is the Spedale degl'Innocenti (Hospital of the innocents) a place where centuries ago a mother could leave an unwanted newborn. And to that institution many Florentine families owe their last name (Innocenti, Nocentini, Degl'Innocenti and so on....). About 10" across. Made in Florence. Click here to enlarge.
